Word of the week: klìat - hate

In my life: Its been a cold, cold week - as Sathya said, we’re in phase 2 of winter. The wind chill and the low temperatures makes any rain feel freezing. It also snowed in Oberon, a place two hours from Sydney which typically doesn’t get snow, so it’s probably one of the colder weekends of the year.

On the work front, I had a pretty busy week. My teammates were away on training so I was a bit slammed from all directions. Hopefully now that they’re back things should get better.

On the fitness & health front, I completed my second week of three sessions. Between this and the weather, I’ve had a smaller step count this week. It’s really difficult to get more in when you are exhausted from the workouts or are being pelted by ice cold rain but the highlight of the walks this week was spotting some fierce outdoor cats.

I also met my doctor and got the results of the blood tests and most of them look good. The Vitamin D is still a bit low and my bone density number isn’t great so we’ll be upping those supplements. Otherwise I continue as per the current plan and we‘ll revisit in 6 months.

On the guitar front, I actually enjoyed improv this week. It’s vaguely beginning to sound like what I want it to in my head so that’s promising. Reading sheet music is getting tougher now that we’re adding in the eighth notes and a good portion of class was spent in laughter as we just couldn’t keep up with the sheets we had.

We had a long weekend but Sathya was on call so we decided against doing anything outside town. On Saturday after guitar we did our usual brunch, produce market, library for new books routine. I wrote a bit more, caught up on chores and then just relaxed and recharged at home.

On Sunday, we went to Crows Nest for brunch and I remembered that there was a cat adoption camp planned in the community centre. We popped in for a bit to say hello to all the cats and kittens. We also found a record by Englebert at the op shop and grabbed some croissants from Crescent while there. We came home, ran errands and then I went to the library for some quiet writing time and ended the day with chai at Ambi’s.

On my screens:

  1. Reset (Thai, Queer, Time travel, Ongoing): Started watching this very soap opera-ish show about an actor who is betrayed by his friend and his partner, dies and travels back in time to start over with the help of his biggest fan. It’s over the top dramatic and I’m enjoying the cheesiness just as much as I’m enjoying reading all the fan theories out there.

On my bookshelf: I am continuing to read Foundation when I get time. Spy fanfic author has another story which has received 40 odd updates in the last week but only one for spy fanfic. Every time I got a chapter notification I’d get excited only to realise it wasn’t for the story I was following.

On my pages: I wrote a bit more but I’m struggling with the dialogue now that I’m in fluff territory. Will try to get it out this week.

On my playlist: Discovered BoyNextDoor last week and added their song I Feel Good to my morning walk playlist - very upbeat tune to walk to. Also apparently BTS is back after some of their members completed their military training.

I feel good, I, I feel good
I feel good, y'all want?
Get the hell outside, bruh

On my plate: This week on one of my walks, I walked into Eighty Ate cafe to get some coffee and I had the best diary free coffee I’ve ever had. Usually the milk isn’t frothed correctly but these guys had done a great job of bringing out the creaminess. Over the weekend, we also had some Japanese from Sakura - I was craving their Renton chips, popped into a local cafe for a delicious grilled chicken salad, went to a speciality coffee shop and had more good coffee and jaffles and also had the perfect cold weather treat of chocolate spiced Chai at Ambi’s Chai.

On my camera: Another week where I haven’t really done much outside of photographing things on my walk.

Favourite image this week is of the stained glass window at our local church. I noticed them last year in winter and have been trying to capture it properly since then.

Thanks for tagging along!
