Word of the week: thîiang - noon
In my life: It’s been a quiet two weeks here. The weather has been cold and windy in Sydney but thankfully we’ve mostly had clear skies here.
Office work has been quiet even though we’re now one dev down in the team. Hopefully it continues that way. We’ve also received the RTO mandate at our client location. There’s still some discussions around what days people will be going into office but most likely I’ll be heading into the city two days a week. Most of my immediate colleagues are not Sydney based so it seems a little pointless but I’m also excited to meet people in person for a change. I usually have many ad-hoc calls (one of the cons of being on a partially support oriented team) during the day so will need to see how best that can be managed in an open office environment.
The health front has been a bit better, the weakness in my leg is a lot better now - my lunges, squats and hollow holds aren’t suffering quite as much and there’s just an occasional twinge. My PT trainer is also back from holiday so I’m back to my normal schedule now which feels really good. My dead hang time has decreased as I hadn’t done that in a while, but I’ve finally graduated from box squats to full depth squats.

I’m adding in some evening walks to get more steps in and Sathya and I have started doing a longer Sunday walk and brunch which has been very nice. I want to do the Bondi to Manly walk in 10km stretches once winter is over so these walks are a good precursor for that. Kris has talked about the same here and it was very inspiring to read and though some sections sound tough, I still want to give it a go.

Guitar is going well, I’m enjoying this focus on the theory behind things and I’m a lot more confident reading sheet music. There’s an urge to pick up the guitar and practice compared to when we were solely doing improv stuff.
I also watched a couple of movies in theatres after a while, one of them quite randomly. More on that in the on my screens section.
While I was at the mall for the movie I also had the chance to try on the Rayban Meta glasses. I was actually impressed by the music capabilities of the glasses and the photos and videos seem decent. I’ve been going back and forth on whether I want them but can’t seem to make up my mind as I don’t particularly like the style on me and I’m not sure if I will wear them once the novelty wears off. But taking hands off videos on our walks would be nice - especially when we’re out in the bush. Decisions, decisions.

This last weekend I also finally got a haircut after weeks of procrastination. I like the shorter hair, it’s much easier to maintain. Now if I could only style it like the stylist did. The ever frizzy hair refuses to behave most days.
On my screens:

- Superman: This wasn’t at all on my radar as after the last few disappointing DC/MCU movies, I haven’t really been following the newer planned movies. Sathya and I were talking to his trainer about our plans to watch the F1 movie during one of our joint sessions and he mentioned that he was looking forward to this, but to not watch the trailer as there is a spoiler in there. So on a Friday evening when we went to Chatswood for Korean, I looked up the schedule. I saw that I couldn’t make the F1 movie that evening but this had a show just after so I decided let’s go give it a go. And boy what a pleasant surprise it was. I didn’t expect to see Krypto in the movie at all since I went in blind, so when he showed up on screen I was sold. The movie was so hopeful and positive and just overall fun and reminded me of the old Justice League cartoons. Rachel is such a good actor, probably my favorite Lois of all time with how feisty she was and Hoult as Luthor nailed that unhinged, just plain evil role. I walked out of the theatre happy and wishing I could watch it all over again.
- F1: The Movie - I went the next day to watch this with Sathya and even as a casual F1 fan this was such a disappointment. It was entertaining at parts but all I could think of was, that would never happen in real life. You can’t have pit lane standoffs or crashing into other cars as strategy and don’t even get me started on the romance subplot.
- My Happy Marriage (Japanese, YouTube): A fellow Kdrama lover recommended this to me so I watched it one evening. Sort of a Japanese Cinderella meets Beauty & The Beast story with many supernatural elements. It was a nice watch but left me wanting to know more about the world and all the powers. I wonder if they will make a S2 sometime.
- Smallville: I was watching some history of Superman videos on YouTube and was reminded that I never actually watched this outside of the occasional short clips so just slowly watching this. It’s a bit weirder and more episodic than I thought it was so not sure how much I’ll watch.
Other than that I’m continuing with Reset (the romance is so cute) and Marry My Husband (what on earth was that ending) from last week’s notes. I’ve parked Head Over Heels for now. I can’t stand the wait for new episodes so will binge once it is done.
On my bookshelf: Read a little fanfic in one of my current favourite fandoms, more spy fanfic updates and some manga that I haven’t decided if I like enough to recommend yet. Not much progress on Foundation.
On my pages: Stuck on the first scene of the last chapter of my story, I can’t decide if I want fluff after all the hurt or more angst before the last planned scene and my brain just refuses to decide one way or the other. Maybe I should write both and then decide which I like more.
On my playlist: The Teddybears ft Iggypop version of Punkrocker has been on repeat since I heard it during the Superman end credits.
On my plate: We had some Korean - kimchi pancake & spicy pork - at our favourite place, South American platter at La Latina and some brunch (veggie falafel bowl for me) at Thelma & Louise. What a fun name for a cafe that last one. I didn’t really cook anything special these two weeks, it’s been mostly the usual low carb stuff.
On my camera: One of our walks last Sunday turned into an accidental bushwalk as we had to cross a reserve to get to Berry Island. I took this image of the small bridge on the way and its my favourite shot of the week.
